Valentine’s Day Picks for the in Love, the Jilted, and the Ex

By Zibby Owens

I’ve had good Valentine’s Days and truly horrific ones. Even my lifelong chocolate heart addiction couldn’t offset the loneliness I’ve felt on some rose-infested celebration days when I was unhappily single. And on others, I bounced out of bed, smiling ear-to-ear. (Okay, fine, maybe that happened once.) But I’ve always treated Valentine’s Day as the perfect opportunity to show people how much I love them. I decorate breakfast celebrations in my kitchen with printed plates and napkins for my kids, always with a gift-wrapped new book and a pair of jammies, a tradition my mom started. I send my best friends a little something sweet. I give ribbon-clad chocolates to co-workers and caregivers. And I try to shower my honey with love. Or, at least stay in a decent mood all day. Here are some easy ways to make the loved ones in your life smile, escape, laugh, and maybe even cry. In a good way. Why not use every excuse to take a few minutes and make someone you love feel appreciated?
