Book Recommendations for National Grief Awareness Day

Whether fiction or nonfiction, novel, memoir, or poem, reading is one of the best ways to understand trauma and grief. Connecting with an author’s story or a character wrestling with similar emotions has been a source of comfort amid personal bereavement, offering deep insights and greater perspective. In honor of National Grief Awareness Day—which recognizes the myriad impacts that grief can have on our lives—here is a list of some of my favorite books that open up the conversations around this difficult topic and offer a glimpse into the realities of loss.
