8 Authors Share Their Favorite Halloween Costumes
Halloween is around the corner. Maybe a future famous author is hiding beneath one of the costumes you pass by trick or treating! The authors featured here were just like all the other candy-begging kids, but they turned out to be maestro wordsmiths. How?! Who knows?! Check out what they choose as costumes. Was it a tip-off?!
Mitch Albom as “A Mummy”
Here's me in my mummy costume when I was 7, made with love out of rags, toilet paper, glue, and safety pins by my mother. All was good in the five-block school parade until...it started to rain. I retell it in For One More Day, the book dedicated to Rhoda Albom, the mommy of the mummy. It wasn't my favorite at the time as the soggy toilet paper bunched around my ankles, but now a memory I cherish.

3. Kristen Ness as “Raggedy Ann”
Raggedy Ann - which is funny now because she has a somewhat dark history and I write murder mystery / suspense / thrillers … Photo w my sis and bro!

4. Kim Fay as “The Shaggy D.A.”
One of my favorites from my childhood was the Shaggy D.A. My mom glued hundreds of strands of white yarn to a papier mâché head, but the fumes nearly killed me, so she pivoted and glued them to a grocery sack as well as a white shirt and pants. This, to me, captures what a great mom she was - and is!

8. Sarah McCoy as “Dorothy”
Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz was such a favorite, I was Dorothy multiple years in a row. I mean, I got to wear ruby red magic shoes and go on a singing and dancing adventure with my little dog. What’s not to love? I still want to be Dorothy!
P.S. That’s my little brother giving me his T-Rex stare in this pic.
